Well, we did it. After much prayer, much discussion and much research we took Grace to Galveston to have PERCS with Dr. Yngve. We met with the doctor and his team on Monday to discuss the procedure and Grace's situation. After several hours with his team, we decided to go forward with the surgery the next morning at 7:00. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much Monday night and was even second guessing everything as we left our hotel at 5:30 am the next morning. Is the the right thing? Is it the right time?
This is what was done...
-gastroc recession
-semitendinosus percutaneous tenotomy
-myofascial lengthening single hamstring (Timi let's discuss this)
-percutaneous adductor tenotomy
-biceps brachialis lengthening
She has cast from her toes to her knees and sleep in leg splints and arm splints.
I know it sounds like a lot but Grace was up and walking (with my help) yesterday. She is doing great but now the REAL work begins! She even rode her tricycle this morning. She is, obviously, pretty weak but I am so excited about her recovery and the possibilities. A PT is coming to the house tomorrow morning to help me develop a home program. She will also be doing yoga on MWF and then back to CE in July. We will be very busy!!!

Thanks for the post. I know you're busy but I appreciate the update. I've seen her & yes -
SHE'S ALIVE! And moving quite nicely. love you guys
We are so happy to hear she did well. You will always ask your self if its the right thing to do. Follow your heart and soul!!
Glad to hear all went well. She looks so uncomfortable in the first picture, it is amazing how resilient children are, to be up and moving already is amazing. I hope this makes things easier for Grace.
LOVE HER PJS HERE IS TO A GREAT RECOVERY
I'm excited Grace is feeling well. I think the casts look cute! We're thinking about you guys. Hoping the recovery goes smoothly....
Grace looks so good considering the surgery just happened! It's so nerve wracking thinking of our children going through surgery. I'm always amazed at how quickly they recover - much quicker than Mom! I hope the results far exceed your expectations!
Fabulous news! Thanks so much for sharing! I am so encouraged by what I have been reading about PERCS. As old as I am, I can tell you this surgery looks to be way-better than surgeries of old (20th Century). I'll be coming back to your blog to read more about how well your children are doing. Barbara
I am sure you agonized about the decision only time will tell but deep down you wouldn't put your little one through something that you thought was wrong.
In simple English what did Grace actually have done?
Speedy recovery little one.
Hi! I'm so glad I found your blog (jumped over 2 blogs from another friend's blog). I have b/g/g triplets who will be 2 in August, and my youngest daughter has a very rare chromosome daughter that has left her with many physical/mental/medical challenges. I just spent quite a bit of time reading through your blog, and I have to say that I feel your pain (so many of your posts could've been written by me!)and your joy. I would like to read the book you posted about, thanks for the recommendation. And, I had to laugh out loud when I saw your Halloween pictures because I have the 2 cats and 1 mouse costumes just waiting for my triplets to wear for this Halloween!! :) Nice to "meet" you.
